After viewing your classmates’ digital posters and reading the feedback comments left on your work, what new ideas or perspectives did you gain about your poster? Reflect on how the feedback influenced the way you think about your creative choices and describe what you learned about the creative process while designing and presenting your poster.

Prompt Response:   After looking at my classmates’ posters and reading their feedback, I realized how design choices like colors, visuals, and layout can make a message stronger. Their comments helped me see that I could improve my organization and add more detail to make my poster clearer and more engaging. I learned that the creative process involves revising your work and being open to feedback to make it better. Summary: wasn’t here today  Reflection:  wasn’t here today

Reflect on the simile and metaphor worksheet. Which topic challenged you the most when creating your figurative language, and why? In your response, explain what made that topic difficult and how you worked through the challenge (or what you might do differently next time).

Prompt Response:   The topic that challenged me most was writing about my struggles. It was hard to turn personal feelings into a strong simile or metaphor without being too direct. At first, my ideas felt simple, but I worked through it by brainstorming better comparisons. Next time, I would plan my ideas more so my figurative language can be stronger and more creative. Today you created similes and metaphors that reflect your struggles, growth, and resilience. In a well-developed paragraph, reflect on the process. What did you learn about yourself while writing your figurative language?

Prompt Response:   Today, when I created similes and metaphors about my struggles and growth, I learned that I’m stronger than I sometimes give myself credit for. Comparing my challenges to things like storms or mountains helped me see that even when situations feel overwhelming, they don’t last forever. Writing in figurative language made it easier to express emotions I don’t always say out loud. It showed me that my struggles have helped shape me into someone more patient and resilient. Overall, the process helped me see my growth more clearly and reminded me that I’m still becoming a stronger version of myself. Summary: wasn’t here today  Reflection:    wasn’t here today

Describe how you spent your time, any activities, traditions, travel, hobbies, or moments that stood out to you. You may also discuss something new you tried, something you learned, or how the break helped you reset before returning to school. Keep your response appropriate for a school setting and focus on experiences you are comfortable sharing publicly

Prompt Response:   During my break, I focused on resting and spending time with my family and friends. We had a small family dinner, and I even tried cooking a new recipe on my own. I also relaxed by listening to music and organizing my room.  The break helped me reset, think about my goals, and feel more prepared to come back to school. If you had to describe how you show love using only three objects (for example: a playlist, a hoodie, a late-night snack, a long text message, etc.), what would you choose and why? Explain what each object represents and how it connects to your personality.

Prompt Response:   I show love with a playlist, a hoodie, and a long text message. The playlist represents how thoughtful and emotional I am because I like choosing songs that match someone’s mood and remind them they’re not alone. The hoodie represents comfort and protection because I want the people I love to feel safe, warm, and cared for. The long text message represents how loyal and expressive I am, because I don’t like leaving people confused or hurting, so I always try to communicate my feelings and support them. Now that you have completed the rhetorical analysis essay, reflect on your growth. Explain how this experience impacted your confidence as a writer and whether you feel prepared to continue analyzing complex speeches and texts in American Literature. Support your reflection with specific references to the writing process.

Prompt Response:   Writing my rhetorical analysis essay helped me become more confident as a writer. At first, I felt unsure about how to analyze a complex speech, but planning the rhetorical situation and finding strong examples made it easier. Drafting and revising also helped because I improved my organization, evidence, and explanations.  Now I feel more prepared to keep analyzing speeches and American Literature texts because I know what to look for, like tone, purpose, and rhetorical devices. Today, you learned how to complete a rhetorical analysis planning guide step by step, from identifying the rhetorical situation to analyzing devices and effects. Reflect on one step of the rhetorical analysis process that helped you understand the process more clearly. Explain what you learned during that step and how it improved your ability to analyze a speaker’s message.

Prompt Response:   One step that helped me understand rhetorical analysis better was identifying the rhetorical situation (speaker, audience, purpose, and context). I learned that you have to know who is speaking and why before analyzing any devices. This made it easier for me to explain how the speaker’s choices support their message and influence the audience. In the spirit of Valentine’s Day week, describe your idea of a perfect day spent with someone you care about (a friend, family member, or significant person in your life).

Prompt Response:   My idea of a perfect day with someone I care about would be spending the day doing simple things that make us happy. We would start the morning by getting breakfast together and talking without rushing. After that, we could do something fun like going shopping, watching a movie, or going to an arcade. Later, we could go out to eat at a nice restaurant and take pictures to remember the day. At the end of the day, we would relax, listen to music, and just enjoy each other’s company. A perfect day to me is not about doing something expensive, but about making memories and feeling appreciated. What is the best piece of advice of that your parent or guardian has given you? Tell what the advice was and what prompted you to ask the question.

Prompt Response:   One of the best pieces of advice my parent/guardian has given me is to always stay true to myself and not change who I am just to fit in. They told me this because they wanted me to know that the right people will accept me for who I really am. I asked them for advice when I was feeling pressured by other people and started doubting myself. That moment made the advice really meaningful, because it helped me feel more confident and make better choices. What is the most challenging part of working in a group? Discuss a time when a group assignment did not go as well as you planned and how you learned from that experience.

Prompt Response:   The hardest part of working in a group is making sure everyone communicates and does their part. One time, my group had a presentation project, but some members stopped responding and didn’t finish their work. This made the rest of us rush at the last minute, and our project wasn’t as strong as it could’ve been. I learned that planning early, setting deadlines, and checking in often helps group work go better. What is the most challenging part of writing an essay for you? Is it brainstorming, organizing ideas, writing a strong thesis, or something else? How do you plan to overcome this challenge?

Prompt Response:   The most challenging part of writing an essay for me is organizing my ideas. I usually have a lot of thoughts, but it can be hard to put them in the right order so the essay flows smoothly and makes sense.  To overcome this, I plan to make a quick outline before I start writing. I can list my thesis, my main points, and a few details for each paragraph. That way, I already know what I’m going to say before I begin, and my writing will be more clear and structured. Describe a real moment in your life that felt like the beginning of a powerful story. Tell what happened, and why it felt like a turning point in your life?

Prompt Response:   A moment in my life that felt like the beginning of a powerful story was when I realized I had to start taking responsibility for myself instead of waiting for others to guide me. It happened during a time when I felt overwhelmed by school, expectations, and figuring out who I wanted to be. One day, after receiving feedback that challenged me more than I expected, I decided to stop doubting myself and actually put in effort toward my goals. That moment felt like a turning point because it shifted my mindset from feeling stuck to feeling capable. I began to see challenges as opportunities to grow instead of obstacles holding me back. From then on, I started taking my choices more seriously, which made me feel more confident about my future.
