How does watching the film version of Into the Wild change or deepen your understanding of Chris McCandless compared to reading the book? Prompt Response:  The film deepens my understanding on Chris because we get to see what he was thinking about during each moment of his journey. While in the book it gets broken down into different parts without pictures to give a visual.  Summary: Today in class we watched 40 minutes of the film of Into the wild. Reflection:  Today in class I learned the film gives a deeper understanding of Chris.

Chris and his sister Carine McCandless had a very close relationship, even when he struggled to connect with others. Write about a relationship in your life where you feel truly understood. Explain what makes that relationship strong and how it compares to the connection between Chris and Carine in Into the Wild.

  Prompt Response:  A relationship that feel truly understood in is with my best friend that moved. Me and her have the same interest and we can talk to each other without judgement which makes the friendship strong even with her being hours away. It compares to Carine and Chris because Chris felt like he could tell Carine anything.  Summary: Wasn't here today  Reflection:  Wasn't here today

  Prompt Response:  Things that change in my friendship is we grow apart and find different interests . Prompt Response:  In the film it makes Chris actions seem more reckless because we didn't get a lot of explaining like we did in the book. In the book it explains why Chris did what he did. While in the film It kinda felt like he just up and left from college for no reason.  Summary: Today in class we watched a film version of into the wild.  Reflection:  today in class i got to see a how Chris left in order instead of broken up into pieces.

  Prompt Response:  My understanding of my family changed when I realized if they wanted respect from others they had to give as well. This connects to Chris because once he found out about the lie his parents kept he felt as tho he didn't have to respect them because they didn't respect him enough to tell him about the history of the family.  Summary: Today in class we read chapter 11 Reflection:  today in class I learned about the secret Chris parents was keeping from him.

Prompt Response:  A chapter that stood out the most is chapter 7 because that is the chapter where someone wanted to adopt him but he declined. It was interesting because he was close to having a family again but he was so independent and distant from society.  Summary: wasn’t here today Reflection:  wasn’t here today

Prompt Response:  What success means to me in my current stage in life is getting into my dream college and ending my 12th grade year with a lot of accomplishments. By the end of my 12th grade year I want to have a lot of community service hours.  Summary: Today in class read chapter 9-10  Reflection:  today in class i learned McCandless was a people person but he didn't like to be around people for a long period of time. 

Chris chooses independence over relationships. When have you chosen to be on your own instead of relying on others? What happened, and would you make the same choice again?

Prompt Response:  A time I decided to be on my own is when I decided to JROTC my freshmen year instead of going with my friend group from 8th grade. When I got into the class I started to build my own connections with people. I wouldn't change my choice because JROTC has given me opportunities that other classes would.  Summary: Today in class we read chapter 8 of the book we are reading.  Reflection:  Today in class I learned that other people went on journeys like McCandless.

Prompt Response:  A vocabulary word that resonates with my personality is Luminous. This word is significant to me because I am a very luminous person and I also like to be around people who are luminous.  Summary: Today in class we did vocabulary lesson 10  Reflection:  Today I learned new words

Prompt Response:  My desired SAT score would be a 1320 and my top 3 colleges that I want to attend is Spelman, Clark Atlanta, and Alabama A&M. Spelman appeals to me because I like how every girl  that attends the school has a sisterhood with one another. Clark Atlanta and Alabama A&M appeals to me because of the environment. Summary: Today in class we read chapter 7 of into the wild.  Reflection:  I learned that McCandless didn't have a love interest . 

Twice a year we adjust our clocks for daylight saving time, but the change can affect our sleep, energy, and daily routines. Now that we have sprung forward; reflect on how this time change impacts you personally. Do you find it easy or difficult to adjust your schedule? Prompt Response:  I find it pretty easy to adjust my schedule because when i was growing up my kept my siblings on a strict schedule depending on the different seasons. When I was younger I didn't like it and I would be in a bad mood but now i'm use to it and can fix my mood before I have to do anything.   Summary: Today in class we read chapter 6 of "into the wild"  Reflection:  today in class I learned that McCandless could make leather things.

Prompt Response:  A specific book that affected my way of thinking is "The psychology if being that girl" I chose this book because it helped me be confident it also helped me chase my dreams.  Summary: Today in class we read chapter 5  Reflection:  Today i learned McCandless likes to read books about how an adventure and wilderness

People sometimes feel the need to step away from their normal routines or environments in order to better understand themselves. Prompt Response:  A time I had to distance myself from a group is when i noticed they were a bad influence on me. The group didn't have my best interest when it came to my future. That experience taught me that everyone isn't going to be a good friend to me.  Summary: Today in class we read chapters 2 & 3  Reflection:  Why did McCandles die so early in the book. 

After reading Chapter 1 of Into the Wild, consider your first impression of Christopher McCandless. Based solely on the events and details presented in this opening chapter, do you believe McCandless truly understood the risks he was taking when he entered the Alaskan wilderness? Why or why not?

  Prompt Response:     In Chapter 1 of Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer, Christopher McCandless comes across as confident and determined. He believes he is ready for the Alaskan wilderness and wants to prove he can survive on his own.  However, based on this chapter alone, it seems like he did not fully understand the risks. He had limited supplies and little experience, which suggests he may have underestimated how dangerous Alaska truly was. Summary: today in class we read a new book titled Into the wild  Reflection:  I wanna know why he decided to go on the trail.

Prompt Response:  the vocabulary word that was the easiest to understand was bumpkin and the most challenging word was recrimination. and creating my own sentence helped strengthen my understanding of the vocab because it made the word easier to understand and learn ways to use it in any sentence.  Summary: Today in class we did vocabulary  Reflection:  today in class i learned new vocabulary words
