Chris chooses independence over relationships. When have you chosen to be on your own instead of relying on others? What happened, and would you make the same choice again?

Prompt Response: A time I decided to be on my own is when I decided to JROTC my freshmen year instead of going with my friend group from 8th grade. When I got into the class I started to build my own connections with people. I wouldn't change my choice because JROTC has given me opportunities that other classes would. 

Summary: Today in class we read chapter 8 of the book we are reading. 

Reflection: Today in class I learned that other people went on journeys like McCandless.

Dickinson uses the metaphor of a funeral to describe her inner struggles. What metaphor would you use to describe your own mind?

  Prompt Response:  A metaphor that I would use to describe my inner struggle is a Tug-of-war. I would use that because I feel like my brain and my heart are at odds right now. I never know what I want and it can get kinda frustrating at times because I don't want to come off as confusing or hard to work with because I change my mind so much. And it's like I want both of these things because they are both beneficial but I can't pick between the two.  Summary: Today in class we read two poems by Emily Dickinson and annotated it with the class.  Reflection:  Today in class I worked on my assignment that is due Friday.
