After reading Chapter 1 of Into the Wild, consider your first impression of Christopher McCandless. Based solely on the events and details presented in this opening chapter, do you believe McCandless truly understood the risks he was taking when he entered the Alaskan wilderness? Why or why not?

Prompt Response:  In Chapter 1 of Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer, Christopher McCandless comes across as confident and determined. He believes he is ready for the Alaskan wilderness and wants to prove he can survive on his own. However, based on this chapter alone, it seems like he did not fully understand the risks. He had limited supplies and little experience, which suggests he may have underestimated how dangerous Alaska truly was.

Summary: today in class we read a new book titled Into the wild

Reflection: I wanna know why he decided to go on the trail.
