In “A Rose for Emily,” Miss Emily’s actions shock the reader—she kills her fiancé and keeps his body in her home for years. People often react with disbelief when they hear about real-life stories that seem just as unbelievable. Write about the most shocking or “craziest” news story you have ever heard. What happened, and why did it stand out to you? How did people react to it, and what does it reveal about human behavior?

 Prompt Response: The most shocking news story I ever heard was a young lady who stabbed her daughter and then called the cops and told them what she did. The mom got a knife and brought her daughter into the bathrooms and stabbed her 20 times or more. she then called 911 and told them what she had done, when the operator asked why she did she said she didn't know why she just did it. This story stood out to me because people really do get out of their mind that bad that they do things with no thought or reason why. 

Summary: Today in class we finished up on the short story.

Dickinson uses the metaphor of a funeral to describe her inner struggles. What metaphor would you use to describe your own mind?

  Prompt Response:  A metaphor that I would use to describe my inner struggle is a Tug-of-war. I would use that because I feel like my brain and my heart are at odds right now. I never know what I want and it can get kinda frustrating at times because I don't want to come off as confusing or hard to work with because I change my mind so much. And it's like I want both of these things because they are both beneficial but I can't pick between the two.  Summary: Today in class we read two poems by Emily Dickinson and annotated it with the class.  Reflection:  Today in class I worked on my assignment that is due Friday.
