Describe a time when someone’s words had a lasting impact on you.

Prompt Response: A time when someone had a lasting impact on me is when my mother told be I needed to start focusing on school. This impacted me because while in 7th grade I wasn't focused on school I was rolling with the crowd. But once I got into 8th grade I had to focus on what I wanted to do once I got out of high school and actually taking care of my grades and getting into extra curriculum that would help me exceed in school. And now I know what I want to do when I'm out of school and on track to graduate. 

Summary: Today in class we started on an argumentative paragraph on text titled "Ambush"

Reflection: Today in class I learned more about how to structure an argumentative paragraph.

Dickinson uses the metaphor of a funeral to describe her inner struggles. What metaphor would you use to describe your own mind?

  Prompt Response:  A metaphor that I would use to describe my inner struggle is a Tug-of-war. I would use that because I feel like my brain and my heart are at odds right now. I never know what I want and it can get kinda frustrating at times because I don't want to come off as confusing or hard to work with because I change my mind so much. And it's like I want both of these things because they are both beneficial but I can't pick between the two.  Summary: Today in class we read two poems by Emily Dickinson and annotated it with the class.  Reflection:  Today in class I worked on my assignment that is due Friday.
